The McKownville Fire Department is staffed completely by volunteers. We respond to a wide variety of fire and rescue calls.
While most of our members are firefighters, we also have members who provide administrative support through accounting, record keeping, or fundraising assistance. There is a job for everyone. Just because you don’t want to run into a burning building doesn’t mean that we don’t want to hear from you!
University students are able to apply regardless of their permanent residency. We welcome students with experience who are looking for a department to serve with while away from home as well as those looking to join for the first time. We have a formal relationship with the University at Albany and community service credits are available. There are also other benefits including training, social events, networking, and access to the firehouse.
