McKownville Fire Department

Since 1918, the volunteer members of McKownville Fire Department have provided fire prevention, protection, and other rescue services to the residents of the McKownville Fire District and surrounding neighborhoods in the Town of Guilderland and beyond. Places of note in the McKownville Fire District include all of Stuyvesant Plaza and Executive Park, the Woodscape housing development, and 45% of the University at Albany uptown campus including Indigenous Quad, Casey Stadium, and Broadview Arena.

The McKownville Volunteer Fire Department responds around 275 calls per year, including structure fires, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous materials incidents, hazardous conditions like downed tree and utility wires, basement pump outs, and other rescues. We’re here for you in your time of need, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year.

We’re excited to announce the return of the McKownville Fire Department’s Neighborhood Cleanup — now in its third year! Join us this Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the firehouse at 1250 Western Avenue, rain or shine, as we come together once again to help keep our community clean, safe, and beautiful.

Over the past two years, this event has brought neighbors, families, and volunteers together in the spirit of service. We’ve picked up roadside litter and made real improvements to our shared spaces — and we’re looking forward to building on that success again this year.

We’ll provide gloves, trash bags, and light refreshments. Just bring your energy and community spirit! Just an hour or two of your participation makes a big difference.
