Join Us for the 2025 McKownville Neighborhood Cleanup

We’re excited to announce the return of the McKownville Fire Department’s Neighborhood Cleanup — now in its third year! Join us this Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the firehouse at 1250 Western Avenue, rain or shine, as we come together once again to help keep our community clean, safe, and beautiful.

Over the past two years, this event has brought neighbors, families, and volunteers together in the spirit of service. We’ve picked up roadside litter and made real improvements to our shared spaces — and we’re looking forward to building on that success again this year.

We’ll provide gloves, trash bags, and light refreshments. Just bring your energy and community spirit! Just an hour or two of your participation makes a big difference.

McKownville 2024 Spring Cleanup & Open House

On Sunday morning, April 13, 2024 starting at 9am, the McKownville Improvement Association and McKownville Fire Department are hosting a neighborhood cleanup. Like last year, we’re focusing on cleaning up the roadside and sidewalks along Western Avenue, Fuller Road, McKown Road, and Schoolhouse Road.

After that, we’re welcoming the community back to the Firehouse for an Open House and cookout at 1pm – Hotdogs, burgers, drinks and hands-on demonstrations will be provided by the Fire Department.

3/26/2024 Vehicle Fire Stuyvesant Plaza

On Tuesday March 26 at 11:45am, the McKownville Volunteer Fire Department was called to a reported parked vehicle on fire in the parking lot of Stuyvesant Plaza near Jacob & Anthony’s.

The first due fire engine E-57 arrived shortly after thereafter and immediately stretched the front bumper line to attack an engine compartment fire with a heavy smoke condition.

Water was flowing within 90 seconds of arrival, and the fire was quickly knocked down and extinguished without damage to adjacent parked vehicles.

The North Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department was called as a precautionary measure to provide additional personnel and water.

No injuries were reported, the vehicle was towed away and the scene secured by 1pm.
