McKownville Fire District Budget Hearing: 10/21/2025 at 7pm

The McKownville Fire District located in the Town of Guilderland will conduct a budget
hearing on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 starting at 7 p.m. The hearing will be conducted at the
McKownville Fire Station No. 2, 100 Arcadia Avenue, (Town of Guilderland), Albany, NY 12203.

Copies of the McKownville Fire District’s budget for 2026 may be obtained by
contacting the McKownville Fire District Secretary at (518) 489-4340, or by contacting the
Guilderland Town Clerk. Individuals may offer oral or written comments in favor or against the
proposed budget as compiled, or for or against any item or items therein contained.

    Thank you, McKownville neighbors, for another productive public meeting last night! We had a productive dialog about the proposed new firehouse, receiving over ten new questions about the project.

    Notice of Public Hearing 2/5/2024 at 6pm: Volunteer Firefighter Real Property Tax Exemption

    NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
    McKOWNVILLE FIRE DISTRICT

    VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER REAL PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION PURSUANT TO REAL PROPERTY TAX LAW §466-A

    WHEREAS, a new Real Property Tax Law §466-a now permits enrolled volunteer firefighters
    throughout New York State to be eligible to qualify for a partial real property tax exemption on
    their residential real property subject to approvals by local counties, towns, cities, villages, fire
    districts, etc.; and

    WHEREAS, Real Property Tax Law §466-a requires that local government entities wishing to
    confer the benefits of said statute on enrolled volunteer firefighters serving within their
    boundaries hold a public hearing; and

    WHEREAS, the Board of Fire Commissioners of the McKownville Fire District wishes to
    consider conferring the partial real property tax exemption benefits of Real Property Tax Law
    §466-a upon the enrolled volunteer firefighters of the McKownville Fire Department;

    NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Fire Commissioners of the
    McKownville Fire District will hold a public hearing in order to hear public comment on
    whether or not it should confer the partial real property tax exemption benefits of Real Property
    Tax Law §466-a upon the enrolled volunteer firefighters of the McKownville Fire Department
    on Monday, February 5, 2024 commencing at 6:00 p.m. at the Fire Headquarters Building
    located at 1250 Western Ave, Albany, New York.

    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the aforesaid matter will be presented to the residents and
    taxpayers of the McKownville Fire District and the Board of Fire Commissioners for public
    comment to the Board of Fire Commissioners so that all persons interested in the subject can be heard at such time and place.
